Key Information

Our School

St George’s CE Primary School is a unique learning establishment. Our ethos is built around a broad and balanced education where children are able to explore their interests and talents, whilst making good progress across a range of academic and foundation subjects.  All Early Years pupils are assessed when they arrive and they are assessed again when they leave for Secondary school. This shows ‘real’ progress and is arguably the best measured judgement of any school.

Behaviour, Safeguarding and Safety

At St George’s CE Primary School we believe that children thrive best in a well-disciplined caring environment.  In applying an Assertive Discipline approach to behaviour management throughout the school, children are given an opportunity to modify their behaviour and take responsibility for their actions. It is written for all members of the school community to allow each one to understand the policy of the school and to apply it consistently and fairly.

The Role of the Governing Body in Safeguarding in School 11th October 2016

“Safeguarding is not just about protecting children from deliberate harm. It includes a wide range of issues relating to pupil’s welfare, health and safety.” (Briefing for Section 5 Inspectors on Safeguarding Children, Ofsted April 2015)

We are aware that child protection and safeguarding are fundamental to the welfare of all children in our care. Our Safeguarding Policy, therefore, should be read in conjunction with the wider safeguarding policies.

All policies are reviewed on an annual basis by the Governing Body which has responsibility for oversight of school safeguarding and child protection systems. The Designated Safeguarding Lead / Head Teacher will ensure regular reporting on safeguarding activity and systems in school to the Governing Body. The Governing Body will not receive details of individual pupil situations or identifying features of families as part of their oversight responsibility.

Our school fully recognises the contribution it can make to protect children from harm and supporting and promoting the welfare of all children who are registered pupils at our school. The elements of our policy are prevention, protection and support. Our policy applies to all Staff, Parents and Governors, volunteers, visitors and pupils.

This page will guide you to information about the current and historic performance of our school, with information about standards, the progress of pupils and the findings of the school’s most recent OFSTED and SIAS inspection.

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’).

Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel.

Sports Premium

The Pupil Premium is a government funded payment introduced in 2013 aimed at improving and increasing the provision of PE in schools across the country.

Governing bodies and maintained schools are required to hold certain policies and other documents by law. These policies are outlined in the Department for Education’s guidance document ‘Statutory Schools Policies’ (updated February 2014), which outlines the necessary policies and procedures.

School policies cover every aspect of school life.  If you wish to obtain a printed copy, please ask the school office or email our Clerk to the Governors
