(Also known as ‘Forest School’)
I am pleased to introduce our Hedgehog Club, which is run by St George’s Pre-school and provides a very unique, “Back to Nature” experience for your children.
This club is run along the lines of a “Forest School”, whose aim is to encourage and inspire children from 3 years upwards, through the learning of small, achievable tasks in a woodland environment.
There is sometimes an element of risk taking; although children will acquire new skills as they are ready for them, so that activities can maintain a degree of challenge and excitement, whilst remaining safe and controlled.
Freedom of the ‘forest’ allows the children the opportunity for independence and gives them a realistic experience, in which they are able to learn and try new skills and further develop their understanding of a woodland environment.
The site we use for Hedgehog Club is within the school boundaries. Pathways have been cleared and areas made for a range of activities, such as Den making, wood whittling, digging, bug hunting, rope swings and camp fires.
Hedgehog club runs on Thursday afternoons from 1.00-3.00pm. If you would like your child to attend from September 2014, please complete and return the slip below. Places are on a first come basis! If your child already attends a Thursday afternoon session, please indicate whether you would like them to attend the Hedgehog club. (the £5.00 charge does not apply if he/she is already paying for the session)
